Winter – Winding Down?

What an odd winter it has been this year in Sumter, South Carolina.  First we received the lions’ share of snow, about seven inches in different parts of the County, while the upstate known for light snows received none.  Next, we have already had, in Sumter County, sub 20o weather for days with highs only reading sub-freezing levels at 280.  Not our typical winter weather in Sumter for sure.  Global warming, is not here!

Several special projects are underway in the County:  1) the Second Mill Dam project began in January and it is anticipated that this project should be completed as warmer weather arrives in Sumter County, and 2) the Patriot Park Environmental Center broke ground and is currently well under construction with an expected opening date for mid-summer 2018.

The County continues with the road work and Goodman Road in Shiloh was the most recently paved.  To date we have paved 3.5 miles with another 3.1 miles in progress.

Many other Capital Penny Sales Tax projects will begin construction early this spring.
