    Carnegie Library Renovations

This $300,000 project will restore this brick building, which was built in 1916-17, in the Beaux-Arts style.
It was one of 14 public libraries the Carnegie Foundation helped build in South Carolina; 1,689 were built in the United States by the foundation.
Local architects J. Herbert Johnson and N. Gaillard Walker helped design the building, with help from James Bertram of the Carnegie Corporation.
It housed the public library until 1968 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.
