The leadership of Sumter County Council will continue as it has been for another two years after Chairman James T. McCain Jr. and Vice-Chairman James “Jimmy” R. Byrd Jr. were elected Tuesday evening by their fellow Council members to serve another term.
At the outset of the first Council meeting of 2019, Charles T. Edens, District 4, nominated McCain, District 6, to serve another two-year term as chairman. Artie Baker, District 2, then nominated Byrd, District 3, to serve another two-year term as vice-chairman.
The vote was unanimous.
