Sumter County Council was presented Tuesday evening with an award from the Midlands Fatherhood Coalition.
Sumter Site Director Keith Ivey told council members during their regular meeting he appreciated the support given to the S.C. Center for Fathers and Families and the Midlands Fatherhood Coalition.
The coalition now covers Kershaw County as well as Sumter, Clarendon and Lee counties, Ivey said.
Six men recently graduated from the coalition’s program, he said. Two of those graduates are now employed at a manufacturing plant and another young man is now employed in Kershaw County, he said.
Sumter County Council Chairman James T. McCain Jr. accepted the award on behalf of council.
