Sumter County and the City of Sumter in accordance with
National Flood Insurance Program regulation 65.7(b)(1), hereby gives notice of
Sumter County’s intent to revise the flood hazard information, generally
located along Green Swamp from Second Mill Pond Dam, just south of West Liberty
Street, extending south to the confluence with the Pocotaligo River. The flood
hazard revisions are being proposed as part of Conditional Letter of Map
Revision (CLOMR) resulting from a revised hydrologic and hydraulic evaluation
undertaken as part of the FEMA requirements for the repairs to the Second Mill
Pond Dam. Once the project has been completed, a Letter of Map Revision
(LOMR) request will be submitted that will, in part, revise the following flood
hazard boundary along Green Swamp resulting in an increase in the Base Flood
Elevations (BFEs) along Green Swamp. Maps and detailed analysis of the
floodplain revision can be reviewed at the Sumter County Planning office at 12
W Liberty St, Sumter, SC 29150. Interested persons may call Helen M.
Roodman, AICP, CFM, Zoning Administrator Sumter City-County Planning Department
