Reserves

The Patrol Division of the Sheriff’s Office has another key component that we’d be hard pressed to serve without, our volunteers. The Reserve Deputy program is a supplemental force that assists our regular deputies during busy times, special events, and on regular patrol. These dedicated deputies go through much of the same training as regular deputies but work on a volunteer basis. These men and women work regular full time jobs and then sacrifice their personal time to come out and serve. They are an incredible asset to us.

We also have numerous South Carolina State Constables who assist us on a regular basis. Though they are certified through the state, they often participate in our training and activities and assist our full time deputies on patrol and with special functions. They too are strictly voluntary and serve Sumter County on their time.

We greatly appreciate all of the help and hard work that these folks give us and give Sumter County.

The Reserve Deputy program and the State Constables are coordinated by Captain Eddie Hobbs of the Patrol Division. If you have any concerns or would like to request any information, please email Captain Hobbs or call him at 803-436-2032. If you would like information about becoming a Reserve Deputy, you may contact either Captain Hobbs or Senior Corporal Tiller in Recruiting
