    Swan Lake Iris Gardens

Right in the heart of Sumter County lies Swan Lake-Iris Gardens.

A world famous attraction, this free public park features all eight species of swans, along with Sumter native Grainger McKoy’s “Recovery” sculpture.

As families stroll the scenic paths along Swan Lake, they can learn about the flora and fauna with interactive guide boxes, enjoy the butterfly, Braille and chocolate gardens, and then wander over to the playground.

An overpass allows visitors to safely cross West Liberty Street and enjoy a boardwalk immersed in Cypress trees and the sounds of nature.

Swan Lake-Iris Gardens is located at 822 West Liberty Street and is open from 7:30 a.m. to dusk every day except during the Iris Festival in May, which recently marked its 78th year.

A Visitors Center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. For more information, call 803-436-2640
