Photo ID Requirements - New for 2013

Beginning January 1, 2013, you will be asked to show one of the following Photo IDs at your polling place:

  • S.C. Driver's License
  • ID Card issued by S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles
  • S.C. Voter Registration Card with Photo
  • Federal Military ID
  • U.S. Passport

If you do not currently have one of the Photo IDs above, you can make your voting experience as fast and easy as possible by getting one free of charge:

Performing Arts For The Holidays is an annual event sponsored by South Sumter Resource Center and Sumter County Community Development Corporation. PAFTH’s inaugural presentation was 2005 at the South Sumter Resource Center in an effort to showcase the talented young people that live in Sumter and surrounding area. Most of these immensely talented young people seldom have the opportunity to display their talent. PAFTH was created as an avenue for these talented youth to expose their offerings to the world.

horseshoeBeginning on December 1st every year at 6 p.m., one of the largest lighted displays in South Carolina will illuminate the world famous Swan Lake Iris Gardens! The Opening Ceremony is celebrating the 25th annual Fantasy of Lights and the 33rd Anniversary of the Floating Christmas Tree! The world famous 150 acre Swan Lake-Iris Gardens will illuminate with more than a million lights and 150 lighted figures!

Members of Sumter County Council and I are indeed pleased to present this report to you with the desire that it will provide a birds eye view of how your County Government is organized, the services it renders, and some of the plans we have for the future. Local governments are faced with numerous challenges and mandates that they must confront which impact citizens now and in the years ahead. As a leader in local initiatives for many years, Sumter County Government is now, and will continue to be, prepared to meet the tasks before it in an ingenious and gallant approach.

Sumter County Government has hired a new Animal Rescue Coordinator, Amy Frey.  Thank you to Sheriff Dennis along with the City of Sumter and Chief Roark for working with us to coordinate a new rescue program for Sumter County.
