Sumter County Emergency Management Director shares tips on storm preparedness


The height of the hurricane season is upon us, and many folks remember how the last two falls seasons have been in Sumter County.

Last year we saw Hurricane Matthew knock down trees and power lines and the year before was a deluge of rain and flooding that devastated large portions of the state.

Sumter County Emergency Management Director Erik Hayes wants folks to be prepared for any storms that may hit us, and as September is National Preparedness Month, it’s prudent to take stock of your plan in the event of a natural disaster.
